The Zamfara Investment Promotion Agency (ZIPA) is a government body in Zamfara State, Nigeria, established to attract both local and foreign investors to the state, fostering economic growth and development. ZIPA focuses on promoting investment opportunities, providing support services to investors, and facilitating business growth within the state. They also work to create an enabling environment for businesses and promote public-private partnerships.

MANDATE AND FUNCTION INVESTMENT PROMOTION

• Design and continuously revise the Zamfara State Investment promotion strategic plan
• To create an attractive and competitive business environment where both the state and businesses prosper and flourish
• Facilitate the smooth entry and establishment of new businesses via us One-Stop shop and after-care unit
• Design and articulate a clear private sector growth strategy  for the growth of the local private sector thereby  expanding the economic base of the State
• Assist in the Implementation of the state Ease of doing Business agenda

PUBLIC PRIVATE PARTNERSHIP

• Design a veritable public-private partnership framework
• Identify state government projects that could be delivered through a public-private partnerships arrangement and coordinate the Implementation of projects as approved
• To continuously monitor the performance of all public-private-partnerships to ensure compliance
• Capacitate relevant Ministries, Departments and Agencies, Local Government and the General public on the fundamentals of public-private- partnerships through Advocacy

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACTIVITIES:

• Promoting Investment: ZIPA actively works to attract both local and foreign investors to Zamfara State.
Providing Support Services:  They offer support services to investors, helping them navigate the process of establishing businesses in the state.
Facilitating Business Growth: ZIPA aims to foster an environment that encourages business growth and development.
Public-Private Partnerships: ZIPA actively promotes and facilitates public-private partnerships to drive economic growth and development.
• Infrastructure Development: ZIPA is involved in developing the state’s infrastructure, including initiatives like the construction of an ultra-modern market in Gusau.
• Budget Tracking: They participate in budget tracking for capital projects to ensure effective implementation and promote public-private partnerships.
• Workshops and Training: ZIPA conducts workshops and training programs on investment promotion and public-private partnerships.
• Collaboration: ZIPA collaborates with various stakeholders, including local government chairmen and other government agencies, to achieve its goals.

FOCUS AREA FOR INVESTMENT:

The Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC) highlights several sectors with investment potential in Zamfara State, including:
Agribusiness, Light Manufacturing, Healthcare, Tourism, Energy, and Mining.

ZIPA’s recent activities include:

• Signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Dhinat Global Ventures Ltd for the construction of an ultra-modern market in Gusau.
• Participating in budget tracking for capital projects within Zamfara State.
• Conducting a workshop on investment promotion and PPPs in collaboration with Spydnet Solution Limited.
• Visiting the Executive Chairman of Gusau Local Government to strengthen investment ties.
• Attending the Walima ceremony of the newly appointed Permanent Secretary, Sani Abubakar Bukkuyum, showing appreciation for his appointment.

ZIPA plays a crucial role in shaping Zamfara State’s economic landscape by attracting investments, fostering partnerships, and promoting sustainable development.
